Kersey_M_300px.jpgMargie Kersey's Rotary journey started as a charter member of the Rotary Club of Lake Spivey (then Clayton County Daybreak) on February 16, 1998 Serving in every leadership position in the club she was President in 1999-2000.  Program chair for 4 years she was named Rotarian of the Year in 2004. After relocating her business and residence Margie continued her Rotary service as a member of the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain.  In July 2006 she served the club as New  Generations Chair and was named Rookie of the Year in 2007.  Margie has also been very active at the District level.  She has served as the District Secretary.

Many Rotarians in 6900 have met Margie in her role as District Raffle Chair for three years in the personas of "Mellow Yellow, Mustang Sally and the Tool Gal". Many other Rotarians of District 6900 met her at the Family of Rotary event in Warm Springs.  She organized the "Whatever Happened to Polio?" display and event as the District Family of Rotary Chair. Involved in numerous  district activities she served as District Conference registrar 2008.  Most recently Margie has been responsible for the implementation of the new District Database and has spent a great deal of time working with club secretaries and officers to help them get their clubs online. She is a graduate of Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), is a discussion leader for RLI. She is a Major Donor, Paul Harris Society member and Bequest Society Member. Margie Kersey is very honored to have been named District Rotarian of the Year in 2008

Margie is self-employed with her husband, Ron Kersey, as financial and estate planners. They specialize in working with owners of timberland. Prior to heading out on her own, she spent 20 years in retail including 10 at Toys R Us as an operations Director. Training was a big part of her job and soon after leaving Toys, she went to work with Dale Carnegie Training traveling most of south Georgia. She has also worked as a trainer for the Calvin Center in Hampton, GA providing leadership and teamwork challenges.

Margie has been very active in her community. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, Clayton County CASA, and Clayton Family Care. She has been active in Toastmasters having served as both an Assistant Governor and Division Governor. She is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM). She has been the recipient of several awards including Outstanding Leadership Award from Leadership Clayton and Volunteer of the Year 2004 from the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce.

Ron and Margie live in Lawrenceville where Ron is a member of the Rotary Club of South Gwinnett in District 6910. He is a Major Donor, Will Watt Fellow and Bequest Society member. He has been a licensed Georgia forester since 1972 and has worked as an estate planner for over 17 years. Prior to that he worked for Ford Motor Company, and Homelite / Textron. He has served as the Chair of the Planned Gift Giving committee for Gwinnett Hospital System and was a member of the Hospital Development Board. They are both members of the American Orchid Society, Atlanta Orchid Society and South Metro Orchid Society. They enjoy traveling and attend wine tastings whenever they can.
