District 6900 Rotarians:
Our nation has been through a difficult economic time for the last
twelve months. While there are signs of encouragement, indications are
that the sluggish times are going to be with us for a while.
Associated with this is an increased level of unemployment. District
6900 Rotarians are not immune to the unemployment statistics. In my
home Club, a number of Rotarians joined the unemployment ranks during
the last Rotary year. I know of Rotarians in other 6900 Clubs that
lost their jobs as well. This was a larger contributor to the struggle
we all had last year in attaining the membership goals we wanted to
accomplish.
We are now in position to kick off a Vocational Service project that
will be of benefit to all our communities in Rotary District 6900. We
are announcing a District wide program to assist Rotarians that have
found themselves unemployed to network with other Rotarians who may be
requiring in their business the discipline the unemployed Rotarians
have skills in.
We have a number of business owners and persons in hiring positions
with corporations that are in need of good employees to help the
success of their business. What better employee to have than a
Rotarian? What better person to work for than a Rotarian? Providing a
mechanism within District 6900 to match the needs of these two groups
together can accomplish things important to our District:
It provides an avenue for fellow Rotarians to secure gainful employment.
It provides an opportunity for Georgia Rotarians to stay in Georgia.
It helps these effected Rotarians stay Rotarians.
This program will help our communities keep Rotarians,
who are strong contributing members, from having to leave the District
or state to seek gainful employment.
Your participation in this project is very simple and straightforward
for the Rotarian seeking employment or the Rotarian seeking someone to
hire for their organization. Visit the District 6900 Website at www.rotary6900.org . Click on Rotary Networking Resources (RNR)
located in the District Database and you will be linked to an exclusive
LinkedIn network sight that can be accessed only by District 6900
Rotarians.
Initially, you will be asked to become a member of Linked In. If you
are already a LinkedIn member, all you need to do is enter your user
name and password. Once you have accomplished this you will be
directed to the Rotary Networking Resources (RNR) website. You will
then be asked to provide brief contact information. This information
will be used to verify your current status as a District 6900
Rotarian. After you receive clearance, you will then have access to Rotary Networking Resources (RNR).
You will be able to enter resumes, company profiles, and other
information you think would be of interest to other District 6900
Rotarians. RNR is an easy to follow menu driven site.
Providing your information in the same professional manner you do
through other methods is recommended. To aid in verifying your
membership, please include your home Club name in the information. RNR is an easy to follow, menu driven system you should have no problem working with.
That’s all there is to it! Sign on to RNR and get
familiar with the tools available after you have been approved. Enter
the information requested and you feel comfortable sharing. If you
have questions or suggestions, there are links to post these on RNR
as well. Periodically, a document will be published reviewing the
questions and suggestions and published to participating District 6900
Rotarians.
We have done so much in our respective communities over the years. It
is time now to help our fellow Rotarians so they can remain in our
District and continue to serve our communities. Please join us in
Vocational Service by actively supporting Rotary Networking Resources (RNR)!
